World No Tobacco Day 2024 “Smoke-free Sportswear Day” was concluded successfully! The “Smoke-free Evoke, Wellness Spoke” Publicity Programme received overwhelming support by over 140 companies, organizations, non-profit groups, hospitals and schools. Over 13,500 people joined the “Smoke-free Sportswear Day” on 31 May by wearing sportswear and doing exercise, in order to promote the Programme via website, online platform and intranet, and set up promotion booth for smoke-free promotion materials dissemination and poster display. Aim to motivate smokers to quit smoking and create a healthy lifestyle and together build up a Tobacco-free Hong Kong.

Exercise Together in Support of “Smoke-free Sportswear Day” Step Forward to Tobacco-free for safeguarding Next Generation

Today (31 May) Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health (COSH) has held “Smoke-free Sportswear Day” for the fourth consecutive year to promote the message of a smoke-free lifestyle, and to encourage smokers to quit smoking by exercising to echo World No Tobacco Day (WNTD). Nearly 140 companies, organizations, non-profit groups, hospitals and schools mobilized approximately 13,000 employees, members, teachers, and students to participate by wearing sportswear in support of striving for a tobacco-free Hong Kong, and safeguarding the health of the general public, especially the next generation.

Roadshow promotion on 24 May and 7 June!

To promote the “Smoke-free Evoke, Wellness Spoke” Publicity Programme, two roadshow promotion sessions will be held on 24 May and 7 June 2024. Smoke-free promotional collaterals will be distributed to encourage public to complete the smoke-free mission(s), and follow Wise Mike on Instagram (@wisemike_hk) as well as Smoke-free Family Facebook Page so, to support the Programme and motivate smokers to quit smoking by doing exercise. Do Exercise Together to Support “Smoke-free Sportswear Day” Strive for a Tobacco-free Hong Kong

To echo World No Tobacco Day (WNTD), Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health (COSH) organized a kick-off ceremony cum carnival under the theme of “Smoke-free Evoke, Wellness Spoke” on 18 May (today) in order to call for the public participation in joining “Smoke-free Sportswear Day” on 31 May. It is the fourth consecutive year that COSH has held “Smoke-free Sportswear Day” to encourage the members of the public to dress sporty and take part in sport activities, in particular, smokers were recommended to do exercises to increase the chance of successful quitting.

The World Health Organization (WHO) designates 31st May of each year as the World No Tobacco Day (WNTD). The theme of WNTD 2024 is “Protecting children from tobacco industry interference”, calling for the tobacco industry to stop targeting at youth with tobacco products. To echo World No Tobacco Day, COSH launches a Smoke-free Publicity Programme with the theme of “Smoke-free Evoke, Wellness Spoke” to encourage the public motivate smokers to quit smoking in a supportive social environment, leading us to the tobacco-free future and achieve a healthy lifestyle.

Towards our Tobacco-free Future” Publicity Programme received overwhelming support by over 100 companies, government departments, non- government organizations, hospitals, schools and companies. Over 4,000 people joined the “Smoke-free Sportswear Day” on 31 May by wearing sportswear and doing exercise, in order to motivate smokers to quit smoking and create a healthy lifestyle and together build up a Tobacco-free Hong Kong.
